The event attracted nearly 200 pupils from primary schools in Šumperk. The aim of the programme was to introduce children to the world of plants, agricultural research, and the practical uses of plants in everyday life through interactive and engaging activities.
Visitors could explore a series of stations focusing on various areas of research and agricultural practice. Children had the opportunity to visit an agricultural chemistry laboratory, discover the hidden world of soil, learn about plants grown in vitro, and observe insects at close range. Practical demonstrations included traditional flax processing, the preparation of herbal salt, information about the use of plants in cattle nutrition, and even the chance to try milking a model cow. Agricultural machinery and equipment used in field experiments were also displayed outdoors.
In addition to the staff of Agritec Plant Research, specialists from Agrovýzkum Rapotín Ltd. also participated in organising and presenting the programme.
Agritec Plant Research Ltd., based in Šumperk, Czech Republic, is a research organisation focused on applied agricultural research, particularly on the cultivation, breeding, utilisation and integrated protection of fibre crops, grain legumes and oilseed crops.
